When using the apple wireless keyboard in conjuction with the ncase orgami iPad stand it is very hard to reach the home button on the iPad. OK, but there is no escape key, so to the folks at Apple how on earth are we supposed to press ESC to cancel an Apple Maps search when there is no Escape key? Furthermore, many iPad Microsoft apps use ESC as well, also on iPad. Can mimic the ESC key on apps that requires the escape key and with an external iPad keyboard. Command + Period often serves as a Cancel / ESC type of function on the Mac too, for what it’s worth. Any ideas on how to do the escape key on a 1st gen Smart Keyboard?
What other solutions are there for iPad escape pressing? Control [ is the international Unicode standard for Escape character on all keyboard. Of course most keyboard have Escape key, so we simply press that key for many decade of computing. ESC also typically cancels out of pop up windows and modal overlays.

I appologize if I am coming off as rude; but I don't see how your suggestion helps my current problem other than to give Apple yet another excuse to ignore this problem. As of right now I haven't found a way to do some keyboard short-cuts on the iPad. All we can do is pray that they show up in iOS updates, fingers crossed.
